Terminology Server

As the cultural and creative industries embrace digital technologies, it is more important than ever that common approaches to the use of terminology are developed.

The Collections Trust (and formerly the MDA) has been at the forefront of developments in terminology for the culture sector for more than 20 years.

The Terminology Server is an opportunity to move terminology into the next generation – as an online service it comprises of three elements:

  • Online tools which enable people to collaborate on the development of shared terminologies;
  • A structured repository for storing terminologies in a digital format;
  • Tools which enable people to download terminologies or use them live over the Internet.

The aim of the Terminology Server is to make it easier to find, download and interact with structured terminologies. The Server is scheduled for development during 2008-9. In the meantime, find out more about our work on SPECTRUM Terminology.
