Directory of Thesauri for Object Names

International Documentation Committee, International Council of Museums (CIDOC)

This bilingual directory (in English and French) was published in 1994 by the CIDOC Data and Terminology Working Group, based on work begun in 1989 by what was then known as the Terminology Control Working Group.

The directory contains information on 43 object name term lists from 12 countries. For each term list the directory includes: sponsoring organisation, subject coverage, document type (ie. whether a thesaurus, authority file, etc.), ordering information, cost, format, number of terms, structure, date of last revision, method for distributing updates, method for submitting candidate terms, refernce to any manual of construction rules and the number of users.
