Services for Researchers
The collections held by UK museums, archives and libraries provide an invaluable source of primary reference material. It is one of the key roles of the cultural heritage sector to conduct and support research into their collections, to support access, preservation and interpretation.
Making use of cultural collections as a research resource can sometimes be confusing. It is difficult to locate material relating to your research interests. Hard-pressed curators can only offer a limited amount of information and support. Therefore, the Collections Trust is able to provide advice and broker introductions for researchers wishing to make use of cultural heritage resources. We have access to a wide range of research resources and we are always happy to help you with your research enquiries.
AHRC-funded Collaborative Research Training Programme
The Collections Trust, along with a consortium of four UK Universities, have been awarded £53,000 to develop a series of training resources aimed at helping academics, researchers and postgraduate students to make use of Collections as primary research resources.
The partners in the consortium are:
- The Collections Trust
- Leicester University
- Newcastle University
- Manchester University
- University of Glasgow
The consortium is led by Dr Ross Parry at the Department of Museum Studies, University of Leicester. Further information about this exciting initiative, alongside freely downloadable training resources, will be made available here.
