Services for Networks
Being part of a network is an excellent way of spending time with colleagues who are facing similar challenges to you, getting your questions answered and sharing your knowledge.
The Collections Trust actively promotes networking across the cultural heritage profession. We provide support, advice and in some cases funding to help networks to establish themselves and develop what they have to offer the sector. The Collections Trust's predecessor body MDA began as a special interest group of the Museums Association, and we have never lost our commitment to working in collaboration with networks of practitioners.
The Collections Trust provides extensive listing of Subject Specialist and other networks as part of the Collections Link website. In partnership with the 24 Hour Museum, we also manage SSNConnect, a service which provides networks with important tools including:
- The ability to manage and share content and to publish a hosted website;
- Email discussion and distribution lists;
- Tools for event coordination and management;
- Social networking tools;
- The ability to collaborate on the development of shared terminologies;
- Tools for mapping collections
SSNConnect is not limited to Renaissance-funded Subject Specialist Networks. The Collections Trust welcomes approaches from unfunded networks who wish to use some or all of the tools listed above.
