Services for Collectors
Are you a collector? For tens of thousands of people across the UK collecting is a fun and rewarding hobby. Many of the country's finest museum and gallery collections began with the passion and interest of a single collector! From records to china, books to memorabilia, collecting is a way of documenting a period of history or capturing the development of a particular culture.
So how do you look after your collection? Do you make lists? Do you make sure that everything is kept clean and safely locked away? Do you keep the information and new knowledge which comes along with a collection? These are just some of the many issues faced by museums and galleries. The Collections Trust is here to help individual collectors with support and advice. We can tell you about recording information about your collection, how to put together an inventory and even how to look after particular types of object like wedding dresses and photographs.
We have put together all of our know-how and expertise into a website at www.collectionslink.org.uk.
Collections Link also provides a telephone advice line which you can call for help and expert advice.
If you have thoughts about how we could develop Collections Link to support your needs and interests, email Alex Dawson with your suggestions at alex@collectionstrust.org.uk
