Services for Accredited Museums
The Museum Accreditation Scheme is a national scheme that ensures UK museums achieve agreed levels of competence in governance, management of collections, services and facilities. More than 1,800 museums are currently in the scheme.
The Collections Trust supports the Museum Accreditation Scheme through a variety of services and products.
Collections Link
Collections Link provides the following support for accredited museums and for those wishing to apply for accreditation:
- Background and links to information about the scheme;
- The Accreditation Resource Directory, a joint initiative between the Collections Trust, CyMAL, the Scottish Museums Council and the English Regional Agencies. The directory links museums to resources which will help them to apply for and maintain accredited status;
- A free enquiry service which is available to all museums, providing collections management advice. Many museums use this service if they have particular enquiries about Accreditation.
