Collections Link Publishes New Advice Factsheets
27th Aug, 2008
Collections Link has announced the publication of three new factsheets, which are available to download free from its website.
The first factsheet provides updated advice on the labelling and marking of museum objects. It includes step by step guidance on the latest labelling and marking techniques, as well as containing essential health and safety information. It was developed by the Collections Trust with the help of Vivien Chapman from the National Conservation Centre at National Museums Liverpool. The advice can be downloaded from www.collectionslink.org.uk/manage_information/landm_guide
The second factsheet, Volunteers and Copyright, is designed to help museums, libraries and archives manage the relationship between copyright and work created and used by volunteers. Written by Collections Trust expert advisers Naomi Korn and Bernard Horrocks, it gives an overview of issues such as current copyright law, licensing, contractual arrangements and use of collections by volunteers.
The factsheet is available from www.collectionslink.org.uk/get_to_grips_with_copyright/copyvol
The final factsheet provides guidelines on pest management for collections holders. It was written by leading pest management consultant David Pinniger, and includes advice on identifying furniture beetles and varied carpet beetles, and the damage they cause. Resources on other types of insects will follow over the coming months.
The factsheet is free to download from www.collectionslink.org.uk/monitor_my_environment
Collections Link publishes a wealth of factsheets and other free resources on a range of Collections Management disciplines, all of which can be downloaded from its website at www.collectionslink.org.uk
