Collections Link Nominated for Best of the Web Awards
The Collections Link website has been nominated in the Museum Professional's category in the 2007 Best of the Web awards.
The awards are presented annually and recognise achievement in heritage website design. Museum websites from around the world are judged in a range of categories honouring the best online exhibitions, research and educational sites and resources for heritage professionals.
In nominating the website, one museum professional commented, 'This is a vibrant, active and genuinely useful on-line professional resource that is clean in design, clear in purpose, rich in content.'
The nomination also praised the site for the breadth and clarity of its content: 'From think pieces and articles, to guidelines and standards, and from checklists to reading lists the content on Collections Link is credible, up-to-date, and honestly presented. It's a textbook example of how to make textbook material widely accessible to the sector in as direct and efficient a way as possible - there's no membership, no hidden material, no opaque terminology, no Gordian Knot of a navigation system to unpick.'
Collections Link was launched in May 2006 as the UK's national advisory service for collections management. The website contains over 600 resources providing fast, easy access to current best practice information across the full range of collections management disciplines. The service also features a database of training courses and a directory of national and regional expert networks. Further information is available at www.collectionslink.org.uk.
The Best of the Web award winners will be announced at the Museums and the Web conference in San Francisco, on Friday, April 13, 2007. Details of the award categories, nominated websites and the judging panel are available from www.archimuse.com/mw2007/best/list.html.
