Accreditation Resource Directory Now Live on Collections Link

MDA has announced the publication of the Accreditation Resource Directory on the Collections Link website at www.collectionslink.org.uk/accreditation/ard.

This is a discrete area of the Collections Link website providing a route map to the resources which will help museums when applying for Museum Accreditation. The Directory has more than 50 files than can be downloaded as well as many links to other relevant websites.

The Accreditation Resource Directory is a joint initiative between MDA, CyMAL, the Scottish Museums Council, the Northern Ireland Museums Council and the English Regional Agencies. The partners worked with consultant Ruth McKew to identify the relevant resources, and care has been taken to ensure that the contents cover the needs of museums in all parts of the UK, whatever their legislative framework

Sarah Carr, Development Officer Accreditation & Collections at MLA North East commented, 'The Accreditation Resource Directory is a major new resource for the sector, and will be of particular use to Museum Development Officers, Curatorial Advisers and Accreditation advisers in guiding museums through an Accreditation application. All of the documents have been selected for the practical advice they offer, and many will also be of value to museums not going through Accreditation.'

The Directory is fully searchable and is structured around the four sections of Accreditation Application Form:

• Governance and museum management
• User services
• Visitor facilities
• Collections management

Also available is a downloadable contacts list for all the organisations and suppliers referred to in the Directory who publish further guidance and other support materials relevant to the Accreditation scheme.
