Project Proposal - MyMuseumCareer

Status

A proposed service for which the Collections Trust is actively seeking funders and partners.

Summary description

A persistent online community of learners and professionals working in or with museums.

The aim of the service is to provide everyone working with collections with a unique ID which provides access to a personalised web page which tracks the training, CPD and other development opportunities which they have undertaken in the development of their career.

An individual's MyMuseumCareer page would combine two main forms of content:

  1. An ongoing ‘CV' detailing their career development, training and other skills development (such as on-the-job training).
  2. A ‘value added' wrapper of 2nd and 3rd party content, including targeted advertising of new training courses, listings from 3rd party sites and information about forthcoming events and publications.

Alongside the personalised elements of the service would be:

  • An employer's interface enabling employers to browse for potential recruits by their skills profile
  • Community tools which enable museum professionals to identify and share knowledge about common areas of interest and expertise
BudgetIn the region of £80k startup costs (including offline marketing) and £25k per annum maintenance, support and development.
