Becoming a MDA Trainer

Thank you for your interest in becoming an MDA Trainer Member. As a national training provider, MDA is committed to ensuring the quality of our training through rigorous assessment, development and ongoing monitoring.

For basic information please read the [MDA Trainers Membership - FAQ] page.

MDA Trainers Assessment Process

Stage 1 - Pre-assessment

We encourage all prospective trainers to contact us for an informal discussion prior to submitting your application. This is to ensure that you understand the requirements of MDA Trainer membership, and are happy with the various stages of the process. The main contact at MDA is Alex Dawson. Alex can be contacted at [alex@mda.org.uk].

Stage 2 - Assessment Questionnaire

The purpose of the questionnaire is to find out a little more about you and your professional experience as a trainer. The assessment questionnaire is split into various sections, and you should provide as much information as possible.

Please follow this link to the [Assessment Questionnaire].

Once you have completed and submitted the questionnaire, it will be reviewed by MDA's staff. We may also refer it to one of our existing training partners for their comment. We will contact you as soon as possible to arrange a discussion of the outcome of this review. There are three possible outcomes:

  1. We will approve your application and arrange to sign you up as a Trainer Member
  2. We will request further information in support of your application
  3. We will not be able to progress your application*

* In the event that we cannot progress your application, we will contact you to discuss the reasons for our decision.

Ongoing Development

Our relationship with our Trainer Members is very important to us. We want to ensure that you are getting the most out of it, and that you are kept up to date with developments in our training products.

To do this, we will agree with you a sensible way of keeping in touch on an ongoing basis. This might involve regular telephone contact, a meeting or email communication. You will also be able to contact us directly for information through the Trainers-only section of our online Forum to raise any comments or questions.

One of the benefits of Trainers Membership is that you will be eligible to attend an annual 'Train the Trainers' session organised by MDA. There will be a small fee for this session to cover costs, but we will inform you of this fee well in advance of the session.

As part of our quality-control, we may also contact you from time to time to arrange to attend one of your MDA training sessions. Following the session, we will give you some feedback and identify any further support or information which we can provide.
