Brief Description

iO (pronounced i,o), introduces several new user interface concepts to the museum automation field. iO replaces the traditional 'flipping through index cards' interface with a web-like scroll screen, resulting in a greatly reduced learning curve that makes the software easier to operate than other packages and opens its use to a wide range of museum staff outside of collection specialists. It is perfect for institutions just beginning their automation efforts, as well as those who have outgrown less sophisticated systems. It is available in both single- and multi-user versions.

iO offers the essential collections management features of MIMSY XG (with fewer Activities and Authorities) at a fraction of the cost and with significantly lower hardware requirements.

Based on Microsoft Access 2000TM, 2002TM, 2003TM, iO provides superb data handling capabilities while requiring little or no database administration. iO can be installed by museum staff, and no formal training is required.

iO is more than sufficient to meet the collections management needs of small- to medium-sized museums. In addition to its exclusive interface elements, iO offers dozens of additional features, including a spell checker, the ability to customise field labels, and an intuitive report generator that accommodates images as well as text.

iO has more than 200 variable length fields to describe object characteristics in complete detail. Like MIMSY XG, iO has user-definable Pop-Up Lists to make data entry easy. It also has user-definable Help Messages that can guide users through local data entry guidelines. In addition, activities for loans, condition, exhibition, value, and location document and retain every transaction in an object's life cycle.
