“Collections Trust’s services are practical and relevant - because we have contact with so many people who look after collections we know what’s needed and how to deliver it.”

Diversity and Inclusion

Collections Management has a key role to play in delivering a more diverse UK culture sector, and in making cultural organisations more inclusive in the services they offer the public.

It is the responsibility of cultural organisations to reflect the true breadth and diversity of modern British culture. This responsibility goes much deeper than focus groups and special exhibitions. It requires a fundamental and sector-wide change in working cultures and attitudes.

Being truly representative of a diverse culture means being prepared to listen and learn. It means working towards a diverse workforce and providing opportunities in the development of collections and their long-term management.

All too often industry processes and procedures can block new ways of doing things. It is the Collections Trust's aim to refresh the processes and procedures of Collections Management to ensure that they create new opportunities for the sharing of knowledge.
