I am the Assistant Director, Central Services, at the Fitzwilliam Museums, and in charge of public services and operations, including IT, photography, education, marketing, buildings, security, finance and personnel. Between 2000 – 2004 I coordinated the Museum's response to the £12m Courtyard Development. I also lead the Fitzwilliam and the museums of the University of Cambridge in the East of England Museum Hub under Renaissance in the Regions. I graduated from Trinity College, Dublin and the Courtauld Institute, University of London, and taught art history before working in the museum field. Furthermore, I am enthusiastic about the educational and inspirational potential of material culture presented and interpreted in museums.

I am pleased to be able to support the Collections Trust as a Board member because I am enthusiastic about museums as places of discovery and enrichment. I am committed to the role of collections information in this engagement, and to the importance of the highest standards in recording this knowledge as the firm foundation on which to build services that museums can offer to their users, both now and in the future.

I have spent my professional life working in museums and related organisations, in activities at the interface between collections and visitors/users. In recent years the digital revolution has opened up exciting opportunities to museums of all kinds and I have enjoyed working with inspiring and innovative colleagues to explore emerging technologies, and their application in a University museum environment. Looking to the future, I am concerned that the digital assets museums have been encouraged to create should be preserved in sustainable systems.
