Brief Description

Adlib Museum is a comprehensive Collections Management application compliant with SPECTRUM procedures, and yet fully configurable to meet the requirements of individual Museums. Adlib Museum includes integrated imaging and comprehensive terminology control facilities. Public access searching is available through an optional XML and ASPX based web interface.

Minimum Hardware

Minimum specification for computers that will run the software at an acceptable speed:

  • processor: Intel Pentium IV  2Ghz
  • memory: 512Mb (depends on user numbers)
  • disk size: depends on Collection size. e.g. 100, 000 object records c300Mb (excluding images)
  • video: No special requirements

Operating Systems and Networks

Adlib recommend Windows 2000, XP or Vista.

Images

Each catalogue record may have multiple images attached. Adlib Museum automatically generates thumbnails from linked images and supports metadata recording to Dublin Core standard. Watermarking can be applied to images displayed on public access interface.

Public Access

Provided through Web Browser interface.

CD Publication

A complete Adlib Museum system may be copied to CD for distribution (subject to licensing).

Internet

Adlib offer a flexible web application based on XML, CSS and ASPX technology. This application can easily be adapted to suit the design requirements of any organisation, offering an easy way to get your collections on-line.

Portal sites capable of searching remote databases (Adlib or non-Adlib) can be constructed.

Adlib supports OAI-MHP and search and retrieve web services SRU/SRW. Adlib Museum can also act as a Z39.50 server.

Adlib Museum offers the user a choice of database technology:

  • Adlib ‘Native' flat file database
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  • ORACLE 10g

Native Standard system from £5,800 Annual Support (15%) £870. Price is for concurrent read/write users.

Additional Pricing Notes

Read only public access, either Windows interface (from £300) or Web Browser based from £2,250. In addition to the Standard Museum System, there are further versions available:
  • Adlib Museum Lite: a free software package downloadable from our web site for basic inventory recording of up to 5,000 objects. (upgradeable to any of our product range)
  • Adlib Museum Basis: an easy to use cataloguing system costing £495 single user (upgradeable to Standard)
  • Adlib Museum Plus: a Standard Museum system but combined with a Standard Adlib Library or Adlib Archive System. Prices start from £1,850 for a single user.
  • Adlib Xplus: Incorporates full Museum, Library and Archival management to relevant professional standards. Prices start from £2,100 for a single user.

Scheduled courses run at our training centre in Swindon cost £200 per person per day. Details are available from their Website.

Training can also be conducted on-site at a cost of £500 per day plus expenses. An optimum class size is six.

Adlib applications are used by approx. 220 organisations in the UK and Ireland. Around a third of this total are museums.

Estimated total number of UK users (individuals) is 500-750.

Special Features

Adlib Software Applications are completely flexible in that all aspects of the system such as data structures, screen layouts, etc. may be changed by the customer using the system toolset supplied (full training available). This means that you never will outgrow your software as you can develop it to meet your needs.

Adlib Applications may also be combined with each other, for example, by adding Adlib Library and/or Adlib Archive to create a full cross-domain collections management system supporting relevant professional standards.

Multi-lingual capability comes as standard and the system also supports UNICODE (for non-Western character sets).

As well as handling integrated text and images, links can also be made to other application files such as word processing documents, multi-media files, etc. from within Adlib database records

36 different file formats supported including all the common ones such as JPEG, GIF, TIFF, etc.
